There are several ways to backup your data. First go to:
Settings (tab) --> Backup & Restore
Backup via Email
If you are using TDF Tracker v1.4.1 or later, you can do a quick backup via email by pressing the button in the top right of this screen. This will allow you to backup the database via email.
Restore via Email
TDF Tracker v1.5 added the ability to restore via email for devices running iOS 3.2 or later.
In Mail, find an email that has a "Data.trackerbu" database attachment. Touch and hold on the Attachment icon until the "Copy to Tracker" option appears (in older versions of iOS it was "Open in Tracker"). Choose that option. When TDF Tracker opens, it will allow warn you that you are about to replace the existing database. If you continue, you will have replaced the database with the one from the backup.
Backup/Restore via Dropbox
TDF Tracker v1.7 greatly enhanced Dropbox backup integration, and allows you to automate backups to Dropbox in addition to manually sending a backup to Dropbox.
Before using Dropbox, you must link TDF Tracker to your dropbox by going to Settings (tab) --> Backup & Restore. You can then tap on the "Link Dropbox" button. If you have an existing Dropbox account, you can enter your account information or follow the direction to setup a new account and link TDF Tracker to it.
Once you have linked TDF Tracker to your Dropbox, you can use the "Backup to Dropbox Now"/"Restore: Choose from Dropbox" buttons (Settings (tab) --> Backup & Restore) to backup and restore data to Dropbox manually. In addition to manual backups, you can Choose and interval and number of backups for this device to keep on dropbox. Every time you switch out of TDF Tracker, it will make a backup if the chosen backup interval has passed.
For version prior to v1.7
Before using Dropbox, you must link TDF Tracker to your dropbox by going to Settings (tab) --> Backup & Restore --> Backup Configuration and choose "Dropbox" on the top of the screen. You can then tap on the "Link Dropbox" button. If you have an existing Dropbox account, you can enter your account information or follow the direction to setup a new account and link TDF Tracker to it.
Once you have linked TDF Tracker to your Dropbox, you can use the Backup/Restore buttons (Settings (tab) --> Backup & Restore) to backup and restore data to Dropbox.
Backup/Restore via MobileMe iDisk
MobileMe has been discontinued by Apple and is removed from recent versions of TDF Tracker
If you subscribe to Apple's MobileMe service, you can enter your username/password at the following location:
Settings (tab) --> Backup & Restore --> Backup Configuration
NOTE: The username does not include @me.com/@mac.com - it is just the first part. So the username for someone with a MobileMe email address of tdftracker@me.com would just be tdftracker. Tracker v1.5.1+ have been updated to allow for full usernames.
This will allow you to use the Backup/Restore buttons (Settings (tab) --> Backup & Restore) to use your iDisk to backup and restore data.
Backup/Restore via email or Dropbox are the easiest to use and offer the most flexibility.
